Harnessing the convergence between smart communities, physical and cyber security August 19, 2017

AFN Solutions team was really excited to attend The Telstra Australian Smart Communities Conference, where a number of critical challenges affecting Australian communities of the future were raised, discussed and addressed. The ASCA conference was held last week in Adelaide on 29-31st May and attracted nearly 400 attendees.

The challenges of Australian smart communities

Among one of the key points the conference highlighted was the need to define what technological challenges and opportunities communities of the future might need to address.

As a result, it is clear at AFN Solutions that our primary aim is to provide more sophisticated information to support councils and businesses in their decision-making and helping them to align these actions with any relevant strategic plans at the local, regional or state level.

The conference helped to clarify that the communities and cities across Australia are facing numerous challenges such as:

1. A transitioning economy from traditional sale of commodities to high-tech, knowledge-based services. This requires our communities to provide the right environment for investment, collaboration and growth

2. Stimulating the local economy with the creation of long-term, sustainable jobs

3. Minimising the cost to provide assets and services to members of the community

IoT-enabled smart solutions are helping to address this across industries. From base network infrastructure, through intelligent monitoring to IoT-enabled deployment of smart spots, LED lighting, charging stations, rubbish bin sensors or parking guidance, AFN Solutions can bring together emerging technology and disparate system improving the amenities in the local areas as well as delivering efficiencies for the local authorities.

We are very passionate about the future outlook for our communities and keen to help them navigate the infinite interconnectedness of smart technologies, convergence and IoT within the urban focus for their wider community.

ASCA has compiled a free guide for those looking into ways how their community can become smarter. Why not download your free ASCA 2017 Guide to Creating a Smart Community in Australia by following this link.

Convergence between physical and cyber security

Returning to Sydney in July is the Security Exhibition & Conference that is aiming to re-energise the way we look at security. The event, held in the ICC Sydney is estimated to draw in almost 5000 security professionals from installers and integrators to end users and consultants from many industries. AFN Solutions and Telstra are sure to be there to be clearing out any mist surrounding the convergence of different smart technologies with the cyber security of the future.

If you are keen to talk to us about what smart solutions we could deliver in response to your business’ challenges, there is still time to register for the event.

So don’t miss out and see you there.
