There are no downs for AFN Solutions this year December 15, 2016

AFN Solutions is looking back at the many highlights of 2016. What a great year it’s been.

Soon, the year will be over and everyone will go home to their families and friends for the Christmas holiday season. Many will use this opportunity to take a few moments to reflect on the year’s successes and challenges. For AFN, despite a slow start, it’s been a great year of growth, and for establishing the foundations for bigger things to come.

Looking back

Having celebrated a second year of being a Telstra company, AFN Solutions is enjoying a number of promising opportunities deploying customised technology solutions on many exciting projects with well-known national brands. “Being a part of Telstra has opened a lot of doors and facilitated AFN’s evolution towards major projects on a truly national basis,” states AFN’s General Manager Michael Bates.

The highlight of 2016 was signing a 5-Year Managed CCTV contract with Moreton Bay Regional Council, the result of a joint effort with Telstra. The project is well and truly underway and travelling smoothly thanks to AFN’s fantastic team in Queensland. This project sees Telstra deploying a wide area network covering more than 60 sites as a platform for an advanced AFN security solution. The communications infrastructure from Telstra provides a platform for Moreton Bay to continue adding Smart City IOT devices to enhance the living standards of the council’s constituents.

AFN has also managed to secure a number of other contracts which, has seen its reputation enhanced as a leading player in the Smart Cities sector.

Growth in 2016 also saw AFN establish its first-ever dedicated presence in South Australia with an Adelaide office and a move to larger premises in Notting Hill, Victoria.

Looking ahead

We have seen some critical changes in the technology world over the past year with the global move towards full connectivity and a projected 34 billion devices connected to the internet by 2020. Governments and the public sector, in particular, are facing major challenges in safe-guarding their businesses and preparing for digital transformation, automation and other smart solutions where security technology will play a key role.

AFN’s CEO, Darren Ruger, is conscious of the impact these changes will have in 2017 and has invested a lot of time testing some exciting new technology.

“A key focus in assessing new technologies at AFN is to find new innovative ways of integrating emerging technologies to deliver services more efficiently and improve people’s quality of life”.

The evolution of Smart Cities from a concept to a deliverable reality has been the cornerstone of AFN’s success in 2016 and it is clear that it will play a big part in our future successes too. AFN Solutions is leading the way in providing cutting-edge technology and connectivity to make a real difference in the quality of life in Australian communities.

We are all likely to have our lives enhanced in the coming years by the sorts of technology that AFN is developing and delivering today.

Once again, thank you for making AFN a success and Merry Christmas to everyone. We couldn’t have done it without you. Now, bring on 2017.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays

from Daz and all at AFN Solutions
